It's been over a year since the shooting of "Blood Kiss." About this time last year, we were still going through casting headaches. I'm not sure if we had found our Katie or not. I am glad that the movie pulled together. I have been working on the musical edit. Still have to get the music cleared with the producers. This definitely is a business. I'm still waiting to see how our new PR director feels about pushing the movie. I have moved on to producing other projects, and so I play this juggling game of getting "Blood Kiss" out to potential distributors while prepping the new productions.

In another few days, I should be ready with the new Flash Photo gallery which will have all new photos and comments. Hopefully, I'm not giving away too much of the story.

I have the Photos from Jay's illustrated screenplay on a Zip drive. A few of these will be making their way onto the web page as well.

I have to see about streaming one of the chapters from "Blood Kiss" onto the site. Anyone who watches movies online knows this is not easy to get the quality and the size correct.

Oh, well, back to work...

Just finished a Flash Photo Gallery for the Movie. Trying to reveal major plot points gets to be a bit bothersome at times. I am working out the audio sync problems. it is just a tech issue. Oh, how I long for the days when I don't have to worry about codecs and software compatibility issues. The Company is working on gathering some interns for 2001. Hopefully, there is an editor among them.

Although at times, I like the editing process, it can get a bit overwhelming when you are dealing with 24 frames per second.

Biggest concern came with how many effects to do. When a certain person dies in the movie, I decided to overlay some earlier photoage of them. It lends for an interesting picture, yet I didn't want to reveal who it is that dies.

Jay came through again. The recent computer crash caused us to lose the Illustrated Screenplay, so Jay rescanned all the photos from "Blood Kiss" and "Little Girl."

The thing is, the photos are based on the earlier script so there were a few "chapters" that we didn't film. One, I would have liked to film was "Pale Blood. Click Here to see the Animated GIF of the scene. It showed more of the relationship between Wisp and her cousin June Kelly. June Kelly becomes one of the victims for the Vampyres.

Being that the Vampyres are more of a "blood cult," than the mythological creatures with fangs, they use lancelets to pierce their victims.

Jay had drawn them as syringe type items, but when we started to shoot, it was decided they had to be a bit slimmer and easier to conceal. We came up with sharp metal objects that curled at the end.

They could be hidden in all places. Most of the vampyres carried them in their sleeve. This vampyre decides to carry her needle in her boot.

The needles are close to the bloodletting devices used in medieval times.

Been up all night working on the new Flash Game. I went to a great website and downloaded a shooting gallery game created by Milton Graham. It took all night to modify it with the "Blood Kiss" characters.

Beyond that I have made a tape of some of Tiffany's scenes. I just have to get with her. She is probably working on a play or something. That girl stays busy.

Talked to Bob Banks about the screening. I'm thinking next month, maybe around Valentine's day. I can do some tie in with hearts and blood. The needles make a perfect gift.

I should have the entire Illustrated Screenplay in a Flash format by then. All this will go onto the DVD of the movie. If I can get Jay to colour the photos, then I can do it in true comic book form.

Gathering some interns so we can start the hype machine on the movie. This should be interesting.

25 March 2001

So far "Blood Kiss" has been mailed out to almost a dozen festivals. Still too early to hear any word from any of them. I did manage to get some press. I got an article from Philippe Remoissenet of 2ndWave CINEMA. We talked a lot on Godard and he said that the movie was what Godard would have did if he was to make a Vampyre movie. I was going for something different with the whole movie. Which makes it a bit of a tough sale cause I don't have the typical gorey "Buffy" type story. Yet, haven't we seen enough of that? I think "Blood Kiss" has some good elements and the acting holds up well. There is a bit of flesh, especially in the Tiffany Cabaret scenes and the scene where Beth "enjoys" herself.

I just think I have to find the right Distributor. Definitely can't go to Disney. Yet, I never planned to.

Tracy Marie likes the Movie. Which is good. She's good at marketing, so I might try to get her to help me along. Ray Szuch of North Coast Stunts has a party going on tomorrow night. Which is the Wrap party for the Film Festival. I always enjoys Ray's parties. This time, I'll have a movie to push. Well, actually, a studio. cause beyond "Blood Kiss," I have to push "The Hot Rain," the funding for the studio and the production of "the SHIP" is coming up.

I already went to one of the film fest parties. My good buddy Bob Banks was elected Filmmaker of the year. He definitely deserves it. He is one of the hardest working filmmakers in the cites. His short being shown at Sundance this year helped a lot too.

I'll write some more after Ray's party tomorrow night.
